Sign of Spring
Welcome to my site, all about dealing with depression, stress and anxiety. Chances are, you’re feeling pretty low about yourself right now, maybe even desperate. Whatever the cause, I want you to remember that you’re not alone. I’ve frequently suffered from depression and low self esteem, and always at my lowest points I’ve felt completely alone and isolated, trapped in my own mind with the only exit looking like a door to the next world. It’s a door that I have stood on the threshold of several times. A door that I have failed to enter despite several determined attempts.
And yet, each time I step away from that door, or rather I’m dragged away by the knowledge that I could not leave my wife alone that way, it is only a matter of time before I’m glad that door was closed to me.
In the darkest periods of depression, it is difficult in the extreme ever to see how you can be happy again. But I know from personal experience that you can. I’ve had depression for more than 15 years now, and I suspect that I will always suffer from occasional bouts – maybe that’s just the way my brain chemistry is set up – hell, I can’t argue with my biology, but I can mitigate it’s effects with the power of thought and consideration, and the recognition that things will get better.
I want you to come to that conclusion too.

Brighter Days
During my last bout I was off work sick for more than 3 months. Toward the end of this time, as I was crawling back into the light, I conceived of this site, initially simply as a project to keep myself occupied, but as I’ve been working on it the idea has evolved and developed into the site you see now – and it’s not finished yet.
I’ve seen a lot of sites and forums online, and a lot crooks offering ‘miracle’ cures and over-priced self help e-books (talk about kicking a man when he’s down) and I wanted this site to be different. As a sufferer of depression myself, I feel I’m fairly well placed to judge the kind of content that people in that position will find most useful, helpful and informative. Here are the kinds of things you will find here:
- Articles and bios from people like you and me
- History of depression, it’s identification, recognition and treatment
- Principal causes and appropriate treatments by cause
- Treatment methods and options: Drugs, herbal remedies, power of thought, hypnosis etc
- Quality self help products and information
- links to other useful resources online.
You can navigate the site by using the link tabs at the top of the page, and by using the categories and links on the side-bar. As this site is based upon a blog template, you may leave comments on many of the articles and resources here. If you would like to make any comments or suggestions – for example if you’d like to see an article or guide included, feel free to contact me using the form provided.
I sincerely hope you’ll find this site useful, helpful and informative.
Why did I choose such a dark and hopeless looking picture for the header, you may ask? Because depression is rather like winter. Cold, lifeless, feeling hopeless; but Spring always follows.
